Every day on my way to and from work I drive past an auction house. There is also an adjacent green house. From time to time they have some interesting things in their lot. Last year, for example, they had a metal chicken painted a variety of colors and for the two weeks that it was out on display I intended to stop and photograph it. Of course one day it was gone and I had missed my chance.
Well about a week ago they had two more chickens out and I vowed that I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity again. You may recall it rained most of last week so my first opportunity to take an image was Friday on the way home from work.
I pulled into the parking lot and the owner was watering some plants in the green house. I asked him if he minded if I took some images of the chicken. He more or less said knock yourself out. As I was taking the images I had this feeling someone was very close by. I took the camera from my eye and he was standing right beside me. He said, “You got a thing for chickens do you?” 🙂
That was so funny the way he put it I thought I was going to burst laughing. I explained that I just like taking pictures and that I found the metal sculptures interesting. Apparently that satisfied him.
So there you have my experience in photographing the metal sculptures in Maquoketa. Hope you have a great day. Thanks for stopping by. Be careful.
