The last day of 2012. My God it doesn’t seem to me like it should be here already but as I stated in my last post time relentlessly marches on. Over the Christmas Holiday we have enjoyed having Mark home during the break. He has always enjoyed wearing this Santa hat during the gift giving and sometimes wears it just for the fun of it.
I’m not sure what the politically correct term is these days so I’ll just say that this is Taylor Dalsing and she and Mark have been an “item” for about a year now. She is a student at Iowa and an accomplished golfer. We have really enjoy having her here from time to time and she joined us for our Christmas eve dinner and celebration before we went to Ames.
Don’t they make a sweet looking couple. Perhaps I am a little prejudiced. I didn’t shoot any images this weekend except for my 365 project. I’ve been in a funk lately and just haven’t had the drive to do anything constructive. I think the operative word would be “slug.” I was watching a photography lesson yesterday afternoon and the instructor said that “A 365 project was one of the worst things you can do to improve your skills.” He went on to elaborate about how it only forces you take a picture, to get it done and does nothing to improve your technique or skills as a photographer.
I thought a lot about what he said and to some degree I agree with him. There are times that I just take the shot to get it done. But most of the time I’m trying to create a quality shot. Additionally it helps me shoot when maybe I would otherwise be too lazy to do so and I can’t imagine anything but good coming from trying to make a quality image. Since I am still enjoying it I will keep doing it until it is done or I am.
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your New Year’s Eve. Be careful and I’ll see you next year.
