I have a couple more portraits from my Tuesday session to show today. I love working with studio lights and would like the opportunity to do more fine art photography but doing corporate head shots doesn’t really lend itself to that type of lighting.
One of these days I’m going to find someone who doesn’t mind having their picture taken and experiment with different lighting ratios. 🙂

I have two images for you today. Busy work day filled with a variety tasks. I taught leadership to some staff and our interns in the morning. Paperwork in the afternoon and then around 3:30 p.m. I did one of my favorite things to do with photography, corporate head shots.
I photographed our five interns and then some employees for our websites and finally some who just wanted to update their business image.
After work I went with my friend Roger to his farm where he has a magnificent 150 year old barn. I made a lot of images of the barn for a presentation he is doing and then photographed the interior of the barn. The lighting wasn’t too bad in this section of the barn but to do it justice I did a five shot HDR image. I would encourage you to click on the image to reveal a larger more detailed version and just spend some time looking at the construction of this amazing structure.

I have four images today all about family. Jeanne and I went to Gabby’s soccer practice and scrimmage yesterday afternoon. It is always fun to watch the little ones play or at least run around. 🙂
At one time the other team only had one player on the field (his teammates were all getting snacks) and he still scored a goal.
The whole crew shows up for practice. Gabby is on break for snacks. They generally play 3 on 3 soccer and they have six kids on each team so they all get some exercise. Gabby didn’t really have much interest in the game yesterday.
Josh is taking some advanced classes this summer and each week they teach a new life skill. This is his pet gerbil that he has to take care of. He has it with him constantly and feeds him and plays with him. Maybe someday he will get a real one. 🙂
We had a little trouble keeping Austin off the field. He was enjoying the exercise as well. It was a perfect day for soccer. Low 60s, partly cloudy and a nice breeze.

I have three images to show today. Yesterday afternoon I went roaming through the countryside. Went to some places I haven’t been in several years. The light was not great but the sky was full of big puffy clouds so it was a good trade-off. You can click on the images to make them larger and see more detail.
Found this old windmill minus the fan blades. It was keeping watch over the hay bales.
I found an old road guard rail that had fallen down the side of a hill and I stopped to take some images of it (I didn’t like any of them.) As I was getting back in the car I happened to glance behind me and there was a large buck dear slowly crossing the road. By the time I turned the camera back on and got it to my eye he was gone. 😦
I love old barns and I found this guy sitting next to an abandoned farm home. There were all kinds of no trespassing signs around so I could only photograph it from the road, which really didn’t give me the best angle.
Felt good to be out with a camera again. 🙂

Quick post today. I was asked to take an image of a new employee for our website. I didn’t have my lights with me so made this image with the Nikon D4S | Nikon 85mm f1.4 lens |ISO 100 f7.1 @ 1/60 sec | Nikon speed light 910 with flash modifier. Not my normal portrait setup but it needed to be done quickly.

It seems like it’s been a long time since I took an image with my camera. Really only a few days but the camera felt unfamiliar in my hands.
I saw these bikes on the way to work yesterday and made a mental note to photograph them on the way home. There were some amazing clouds but I couldn’t capture them in the scene.

Only one image today. I was downstairs watching the US Open when Jeanne said, “You’ve got to come up and see this sky!” We had just gone through a thunderstorm and the sky was what you see here.

I have four images today. Some of them are from my Green Island visit of last Sunday.
At the end of our patio we have a cement bird bath, which is a real chore to keep clean and filled with fresh water. It it is heavily used by the birds in our neighborhood so I’m happy to do it. I love watching the birds take baths and getting drinks. I captured this robin at the end of his frolicking bath. I wanted to get some images of the water being splashed into the air but for some reason I was having trouble getting focus lock on him. I do like this image however.
A pair of Great Egrets are stalking some food in one of the canals at Green Island. I was happy to see a fairly large group of egrets on this visit. I haven’t seen many of them this year. I think they are such an eloquent bird I enjoy watching them.
It has been a busy week at work with lots of benefit meetings at the various banks. Lots of travel and early mornings so I haven’t had much time to do any photographing. I plan to do some exploring this weekend.
I saw this little guy jumping / flying to the different lily pads and I was finally able to capture this shot of him.
Finally another shot of an egret sitting in a tree. I’m just not used to seeing these big birds sitting in trees. They let me get very close to them and didn’t seem to mind my presence.

Off at Zero Dark Thirty Hours this morning for a full day of benefit meetings. Two long days but it’s good to see all the folks at our different banks. I have some more images from my Green Island session.
I found this guy crossing the road on my way into the preserve. I stopped the car and approached him on foot. He withdrew into his shell so I had to wait for him to come of his shell for this image. 🙂

I saw some movement behind the over growth on one of the canals. I followed it for awhile and then this little Mallard Duck emerged. He was having a little turf battle with a Red-Winged Black Bird. I love photographing Mallards.
This is not the image I wanted to capture. The auto focus system caught the branch that was closest to the camera, which left the Egret a little softer than I like. When I was photographing this magnificent creature I didn’t realize the AF was on the branch and not the bird so I just kept shooting. Still it’s a nice shot so I present it today for your enjoyment.
