Last Friday one of my friends from work took me to lunch (Subway) and then we drove out to her Grandfather’s farm to make some images and memories. This was the farm her Father grew up on and it holds many special memories for him.
Megan had asked me a couple of weeks earlier if I would be willing to shoot some images of her Grandfather’s Farm so she could give them to her Dad for Father’s Day. What an honor to be asked by someone who has seen your work to make some images for them to give as a gift. I was thrilled.
Friday turned out to be a beautiful day with temperatures in the mid-60s and a brilliant blue sky with big puffy white clouds. It doesn’t get any better than that. Especially if you wait until the sun dips behind a cloud, then you get very nice soft diffused light.
So I shot about 50 images of the farm and then Megan said, “You want to see some Buffalo?” Sure I do. So we drove for what seemed like a long time, even passing by a big sign that said Buffalo Ranch, but I didn’t see any.
Finally we came down a long hill and turned a corner and she stopped her SUV and said there they are. Well there were only three and they were very far away but I was able to get this image of one of them. He even cooperated by looking straight at me and giving me a smile. Look closely and you’ll see it.
Enjoy your Memorial Day. Remembering the ones that gave so much so that we could enjoy life in this wonderful country. It is a profound statement that says, “All gave some and some gave all.”
Thanks for stopping by. Be careful.
