A short post today. I was intending to show you some of the images I captured at Torque Fest last week but as I was heading home last night I noticed an increased swan population at the Duck Pond.
I don’t know enough about swans to know if these are males or a combination of males and females. The widowed swan is still sitting on her nest and will likely not have any cygnets if history is an indicator. The male swan that was electrocuted last week did a good job of keeping other swans off the pond. With him gone there may well be a larger community of swans at the pond.
It will be interesting to see if she suits up with one of these.
This is the juvenile swan that escaped captivity at the Interpretive Center. He spends all of his time at the North end of the pond. Doesn’t seem interested in the other swans and is very friendly with all the geese that make their nests at that end of the pond.
That’s it for today. I will show you some Torque Fest images tomorrow providing I don’t find something interesting to shoot today. I’m always looking 🙂
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day and be careful.

Always good to see your pictures and read your stories Dave, especially when I’m away from home. The water in the pond seems to be still very low. Great to see that the Trumpeter Swan population seems to increase despite the recent deadly accident of one of them.
