I have a potpourri of images for today’s blog and in no certain order.  I was at Mud Lake park last week and shot a variety of wildlife that was near the water’s edge.  First Eagle I’ve seen up close this year.  This was as close as I could get and as I took one more step he flew away.

A couple of Ring-billed gulls resting on a log.

The ever present Canada Goose strutting his stuff.  He actually was taking a bath but nothing new for this species.

A Common Grackle was foraging for food in the mud. I just think they are a pretty bird.

Finally a bird that I don’t see very often a Killdeer. Thanks to my friend Andreas for helping me identify this bird. I’m not an avid birder but when the opportunity presents itself I like to photograph wildlife.

Fun day today.  Had lunch with a couple of close friends in Maquoketa and I won the flip so I didn’t have to buy lunch.  🙂

Then as a bonus I headed out of town on the Hurstville road and at the “duck pond” two trumpeter swans were swimming in the waters.  I haven’t seen trumpeters at the “duck pond” for at least three years.  Remember you can click on any of the images to see a larger more detailed version of the image.

I wanted to capture an image of the two swimming together but they were each doing their own thing and didn’t take my directions.

It was a fun 25 minutes.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  I was traveling some back roads last week and came across this goat farm.  I had never see so many goats in one place.

Not much in the way of background but the goats didn’t seem to mind my presence near the fence.

Never know what you’re going to find on the back roads of Iowa.

I only have about 10,000 plus images of Canada Geese over the last 20 years but I was at a new location yesterday and finally taking some images with a new lens I purchased in November. 

I focused on one particular goose as you can see in the above image.

He / She was taking a bath and really have fun. I stayed with this goose for most
of the shoot. He was very animated the entire time.

It had been some time since I had photographed any wildlife and my difficulty keeping the lens on the bird showed a lot of rust.

It’s been a long time since I last posted an image on the blog.  I normally don’t have this long of a dry spell, but just couldn’t find anything that interested me.

I found this tree on a drive around last week and really liked it enough to make a U turn and go back to photograph it.  Then in post processing I realized that I had photographed this same tree some years ago.  Oh well, I still like it.  🙂
