Happy Saturday!

I enjoyed lunch with two of my favorite ladies yesterday.  We always have such fun and this day was no different.

There is a saying that goes something like “What is the best camera?  The one you have with you.”  This was taken by my iPhone.  You use what you have.  🙂

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Friday (Part 2) ~ January 12, 2018

Happy Friday (again.)

So Thursday evening, I posted an image taken by our Marketing Director Hannah, with her cell phone showing the corporate photo shoot I did on Wednesday.  I had intended to post her image today but hit the upload key by mistake last night and so it got posted as a Friday post.

Anyway here is the image from my camera that was captured when Hannah took her picture.  I have three images from that shoot for you today.  As I said, this is one of my favorite things to do and I hope to do a lot more of it when I retire.  The problem is that I don’t do it frequently enough so I’m always “relearning” with every shoot.

They were a great bunch to work with and they were very patient with me while I got things set up and balanced.

This is Holly.  She is new to the organization and so we needed some images of her for various marketing plans.

I had photographed Jennie a few weeks ago and I was not totally happy with that shoot as I didn’t have my normal “head shot” lighting system set up.

Anyway it was a fun afternoon working with some really talented individuals.

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Happy Friday!

As I transition into full-time retirement this is an example of what I absolutely LOVE to do.  So thanks to our corporate Marketing Director Hannah who set up a marketing campaign featuring some of our talented people, I had the wonderful opportunity to do a variety of photo captures for an upcoming marketing campaign.

Hannah captured this image on her iPhone while the shoot was in progress.  I asked her to help with the posing as she has such amazing creative skills.

I believe that I have a skill in this area and this is what I plan to do on a regular basis after I finally walk away from Human Resources.  It was so much fun working with such talented professionals.

Enjoy your day and be careful!

Happy Tuesday!

I decided that I had to get out of the house and find something to photograph.  So I came back with three images for today.  We went down to the river looking for eagles and only found one sitting high in the tree.  Got lots of eagle pictures sitting in a tree.  🙂

So went by Bee Branch and found hundreds if not thousands of geese.  It was like an airport with arrivals and departures happening simultaneously.    I was lucky enough to capture this pair as they took off into the warm soft light of the setting sun.

I had the Nikon 200-500mm lens so I couldn’t get the full area of all the birds but this will give you an idea of the number of geese in the water and a few ducks participated as well.

Watched this little Mallard trying to catch a fish.  🙂

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my career.  I have stepped down as the head of the HR department and reduced my work schedule to two days a week.  We’ll see how that works for both me and the organization.  If I can continue to provide value, then I would enjoy continuing on some schedule similar to this.  Time will tell.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Happy New Year!

This is about as far as I ventured out yesterday.  -17 this morning and it’s not going to get a lot warmer today.

Hope everyone had a safe and sane New Year’s Eve.

Enjoy your day and be careful!

Happy Tuesday!

I’m normally not one to be on the other side of a camera but yesterday I had lunch with my beautiful daughter and she snapped this image of me and one of my favorite ladies on the planet.  Addie and I had a great time with Angie yesterday at Champs.

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Happy Monday!

Fun afternoon yesterday.  Gabby’s gymnastics class had their presentation and we got to watch them go through their paces.

It was actually very interesting.  There were three age groups all performing in different areas of the gym and so you could get an idea of the development by age group.

Gabby really enjoys gymnastics class and it shows in the effort she puts into it.

I was very impressed with her routine on the balance beam.

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Happy Sunday!

I can’t believe it’s been 15 days since I’ve posted a blog.  I’ve been taking pictures but none that I can show on the blog.  Some corporate head shots and fun snapshots of events.

Something I’ve wanted for a long time but just couldn’t make myself pull the trigger on arrived this past Thursday.

My friend Burt, who shoots a lot of eagles and wildlife images purchased one about 5 years ago and that is when I started thinking about one.

I purchased the Sigma 500mm f4.0 lens first because if was significantly less money.  When it arrived I did some extensive shooting with it and many of the images were soft.  They were static images and I was on a tripod but they were just soft.

So I sent it back and got the Nikon 500mm F4.0G ED VR AF-SWM Super Telephoto.  I put it through the same test shots that I did the Sigma and not one soft image in the bunch.  So it is a keeper.  🙂

This beast weighs in at 8.55 pounds so it needs to be on a tripod even though it has image stabilization.

Hope to be able to show you some images from this lens in the near future.

Enjoy your day and be careful.

Happy Sunday!

A short post today with only one image.  Last Summer we had a really bad windstorm that cost us most of our trees in the back yard.  We plan to plant new ones next Spring but as I was outside yesterday afternoon lamenting the loss of those trees the idea for this image formed in my mind.

The light was soft and beautiful and after some searching I found a full leaf on the ground.  I placed it on top of one of the tree stumps.  Symbolic of what once was a beautiful tree, standing mighty and tall.

Enjoy your day and be careful.
