Happy Christmas Eve to you and your family. Christmas Eve has always been so special to me. As a child growing up we always had some of Mom’s homemade soup and sandwiches, then off to church where I usually dressed up as the ubiquitous Shepard for the manger scene.
We would then stop by and see Grandma and Grandpa who only lived a block away. Then it was home to look for the sleigh tracks in the yard (which my Dad made) and then opening our presents. I always took my presents to bed as they were meager but so precious to me.
Christmas traditions are so important and to this day they bring warm memories flooding back.
One tradition I used to do with my kids which, brought me great joy, was to take them to Toy R Us (when we had one) and let them roam the store to pick out anything they wanted. We did this on Christmas Eve afternoon and Angie told me a few weeks ago that she really loved those times. It was so much fun watching them make their decision. It always took Angie longer than Mark as she weighed out the differences. Mark always seemed to know right away what he wanted.
We will celebrate with our kids tonight. Angie and her family and Mark. We will have a light supper, then church and then well who knows with bedtime schedules. But it will be time spent with the people I love so much.
Today at work I will celebrate another tradition. I always have lunch with my friend Steve and we toast a glass of wine to wish each other a Merry Christmas. Then it’s to the mall to do my Christmas shopping. 🙂
I hope you enjoy your day and are able to spend it with people you love and admire. Thank you for listening to my babble all year and for viewing my images. My promise to you is to do better in 2015.
Have a Merry Christmas and as always please be careful.
Merry Christmas to you and Jeanne, and your family.
