Happy Monday!
Only one image for you today and a very short post. I found this guy in the parking lot last Thursday as I was leaving for the day. Two things I’m not happy with but over all how can I resist showing a beautiful Monarch Butterfly?
I don’t like the background. It’s a parking lot! I wasn’t paying attention to my shutter speed so the over all image is much softer than I like. I shot this at 300 mm focal length and a shutter speed of 1/100 sec. Standard rule is that your shutter speed must be at the very least as high as your focal length. Many professionals will say it needs to be double the focal length because of the increased detail that the new lenses can capture. So in this instance I would have had a much sharper image if I had raised my ISO to say 400 and that would have let me photograph this butterfly at 1 /600 sec. thus eliminating any camera shake.
Live and learn to pay attention. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by the blog. Enjoy the “soft butterfly” and enjoy your day.
I thought the background complemented the butterfly, so if you hadn’t told me it was the parking lot I wouldn’t have figured it out. I hope you guys are doing well.

Hi Deb. Thank you. Yes all is well. Jeanne is still dealing with the loss of her Mother. It just takes time. She fills her Summer days with grand kids when ever possible. Hope all is well with you and Terry also. Great to hear from you.
