Happy Friday!
I have three images for you today, that I took on Wednesday of this week. There was a fair amount of lens distortion on this image as I was at 18 mm and it proved to be quite the challenge to get it looking this good. It’s not perfect but I like it.
I had an interesting experience this week. Monday I received a call on my cell phone and the calling city showed San Francisco, California. I assumed it was a telemarketing call so I didn’t answer it. Then I saw that there was a voice message so I listened to it and was both surprised and delighted with the message.
It was a lady who lives in the San Francisco, California area by the name of Ann. She owns a company of consultants and she had seen an image (on the web) that I took three years ago of a vintage fire truck sitting in a harvested cornfield. She tracked me down on the internet and got my phone number and then called me. She said that her Nephew had decided on a career of a firefighter and she wanted to buy a large print of that image to give to her Nephew for his graduation from the academy. Needless to say I was blown away. So I called her back and we visited a little while. A very nice lady and very thoughtful. She told me the story of her Nephew and it really made me feel good.
I found the image and remembered photographing it. I sent her a digital copy and gave her permission to do with it as she would. I had no interest in selling the image. The experience made my day. 🙂
Saw this juvenile eagle in a cornfield feasting on a carcass. He was too far away for the lens I had (200 mm) but when I looked at it in post processing I thought it worthy of today’s post.
Finally this old barn. I saw it on the way to Cedar Rapids (and have photographed it before.) I was sad to see it being torn down. I was on time for a meeting so I didn’t have time to stop and photograph it but on the way back I did. The workers were gone but as I was processing the image I noticed some new lumber in the frame. So I’m hopeful they are in the process of restoring the barn and not tearing it down. I’ll monitor the progress.
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Quite a change in the weather predicted for today in our part of the world. We had 71 degrees and sunny yesterday. For mid November that’s wonderful.
Enjoy your day and be careful.
