Happy Thursday!
I spent several hours yesterday roaming the countryside looking for things of interest. Even ended up at the Green Island Wildlife Preserve, which was a sloppy mess by the way. It took two trips through the car wash to get all the crud off.
For today, however I have three barns to show you. I love to photograph barns and I often said when I had the time I was going to visit with the owners of the barns and learn their history. Now that I have that kind of time, it is what I plan to do. 🙂
I was disappointed in my visit to Green Island. My friend Andreas had been posting about a lot of the migrating wildlife that he had found over the weekend and so I thought yesterday with the beautiful blue sky with puffy clouds would be a perfect time to visit.
I found a lot of the ubiquitous geese and ducks but that was about it. I enjoy photographing geese but you see them almost everywhere now and so they lose a little of their luster as a photographic subject.
It was a fun day with no responsibility or schedules to meet. Never looked at my phone once the entire day. 🙂
Enjoy your day and be careful.
Good to see that you enjoy the Great Outdoors on a larger scale now!
I agree, during the day you may see mostly the Canada Geese, some Mallards and a handful of cranes in the wetlands. They will breed there and secure their territory. The big flocks of migrating Greater White-fronted Geese or Snow Geese flew in around sunset. If they rest for a few days they seem to spend daytime in the fields but use the Green Island Wetlands for their overnight stay. This is also true for the Sandhill Cranes. The birds were early this year and I missed the big wave of Snow Geese. However, March is still a good month for spending time in the wetlands around sunset. Unfortunately my schedule is packed with “non-photographic” events until next Tuesday but I hope to have still some evenings without clouds for the beautiful crisp light we can find only in early spring.

Hi Andreas. Thank you for your comments. I always enjoy your observations. l did spot some Sandhill cranes but they were too far away to get a nice close up. It was a fun afternoon but a really messy road. Hope all is well with you and Joan. Love to have dinner with you sometime.
Regards,
