I have three images for you today. I shot these last Friday night at Asbury’s annual Halloween Parade. Ben had to work so Angie brought the kids over for dinner and then we went over to the parade route.
We had to wait for what seemed like a long time but finally saw all the flashing lights and heard the sirens (boy did we hear the sirens) from all the emergency vehicles. I think every emergency vehicle Asbury owns was in that parade. 🙂
Josh and Gabby made out pretty good from all the free candy the parade walkers threw and handed out. Austin didn’t understand all the fuss but he wanted to be in the middle of it.
That’s it for today. Enjoy your day and be careful.
Happy Monday & Happy Labor Day!
I have a variety of family “snap shots” for you today from last evening when we had dinner at Angie and Ben’s home. Warning there are some really messy looking kids in the following images so proceed at your own risk. 🙂
It was a real treat that Mark got to come home for the weekend. He and Taylor came over for dinner. Grilled burgers with Fincel Sweetcorn, baked beans, and fruit. Can’t beat that for a Labor Day feast!
My flash hadn’t cycled in time for me to capture this image so it’s a little dark but I love this look. I could have spent an hour with Photoshop and cleaned this up but I love it this way.
There aren’t enough hours in the day to fix this image so what you see is what you get. 🙂

To say that Austin attacks his food with a vengeance is an understatement. Ben took him straight from the high chair to the bath tub. He appeared sometime later all fresh and clean.
We were all sitting out on the deck enjoying the wonderful evening and I didn’t see Josh. I went looking for him. Ever the studious young man he was doing some research about something.
It was a great evening spent with family and it just doesn’t get any better than that.
Thanks for stopping by the blog. Enjoy your holiday and be careful.
I have some snapshots of the grand kids from yesterday. The lighting was harsh with dappled shadows and I was trying out my new D500 and 16 – 80 mm f2.8-4 E lens. So the combination of those factors made it difficult to get quality images of the kids. Having said that you can never pass up a chance to photograph the grand kids. 🙂
Angie brought the kids over yesterday morning and as it so happened a small community church a few blocks from our house was having a kids day celebration with inflatables, face painting, and other fun things for children. It was open to the public and they wouldn’t even accept a free will offering. Very nice people and they made us feel very welcome.
This is Josh’s pirate snarl. He was talking like a pirate most of the morning and would give this snarl when he looked at you. 🙂
The kids had a great time on the inflatables and there were other kid friendly things to do. Gabby seemed content to stay inside one inflatable and play with the kids that were going through.
Austin was too little to do any of the events but he is so inquisitive so he did a lot of exploring and he was a handful to keep track of.
It was a fun time with the kids and always great to see Angie. After a couple of hours we walked back to the house and had a nice lunch. Played some more after lunch and then it was nap time.
It was my nap time as well as I was worn out. 🙂
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Enjoy your day and be careful.
I have to show some of the Mother’s Day images I took when the kids visited on Sunday. One of their favorite things to do is to walk over to the school playground, which is a short distance from the back of our property. It is a very popular place in our ever-expanding neighborhood and the kids just love to climb, swing, crawl, and play on all the great equipment.
Austin is so very close to walking on his own. He has a little chair at his home that he pushes all over the house and he constantly wants to walk when you put him down. Angie was giving him lessons at the playground. 🙂
Grandma is always ready to play with the grand kids. It’s a great way to burn off all that energy (for the kids not the Grandma.) 🙂
So yesterday I installed the 32 gb of RAM in my iMac. It was easier than I even imagined. Took all of 5 minutes and it was done. However the results were not as I expected. There was a modest gain in speed or perhaps it’s just my imagination. I think the real issue is the hard drive and at some point I’m either going to have to put an SSD in it or buy a new computer. Obviously the SSD would be much less expensive. I watched a couple of videos on how to do it yesterday and it is complicated and labor intensive. I have to do some serious thinking about it before I decide.
That’s all I have for today. We got a lot of rain in our part of the world yesterday but thankfully not the really bad storms that some of the country received.
Thanks for stopping by the blog. Enjoy your day and be careful.
Back at it today. It looked like rain most of the day yesterday and it was humid so that was a perfect excuse for me to stay inside and finish up some projects that I have put off for sometime.
I told you that Angie and Ben came over Sunday evening to have dinner and Mark was here as well. Great to have everyone here at the same time. It also gave me the opportunity to photograph my favorite little model.
Austin hasn’t had much blog time so I wanted to capture a few images of him while they were here. He is a happy little guy who is able to entertain himself and will smile if you give him a reason. He smiles all the time at Ben and Angie but I had to work for mine.
We are coming into my favorite time of the year. Cooler temperatures, autumn colors, harvest time and softer light earlier in the day.
One last picture of Gabby. She was playing with the bubble mix on the patio but wasn’t blowing any bubbles because there was a strong breeze. So she took the bubble liquid and spread it on the fire pit top and played with it that way. 🙂
She kept moving so it was hard to get a decent shot of her but you get the idea.
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Enjoy your day and be careful.
Back at it today. The kids stopped over for dinner last night after Josh’s skiing lesson. I took this image of Gabby when she first got here and that was the last time I touched the camera.
We had a great time with Josh and Gabby and a wonderful visit with Angie and Ben. Jeanne and I took the grand kids to the playroom while Angie and Ben cleaned up after dinner. How about that having your guests clean up while you play. 🙂
I finished getting the new Phantom configured and wired up. Everything seems to work okay, but it was just too cold out to take a test flight. It is recommend that you not fly in temperatures below 22 degrees. It was much below 22 degrees here yesterday.
So now like everyone else, I’m waiting for some decent moderate weather. I think everyone has had enough of winter for one year.
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your frigid Monday. Be careful and be aware.
Happy Hump Day! ~ 296
Today a couple of pictures of Josh and Gabby. They were over for dinner on the 18th and Josh was riding his bike. I was paying more attention to him and his love for speed than I was camera settings. This shot was taken at 1/80 of a second at 300 mm focal length. Translation, very soft image. Just wasn’t paying attention, but as a Grandpa I can be excused because I was enjoying watching Josh run up and down the sidewalk. Ben says he goes through a pair of shoes about every month or so.
I’m going to Cedar Rapids this afternoon as one of my friends, Gary is retiring from the rat race and I want to be there for his celebration. He will be missed at the bank but he has earned his retirement and I am happy for him.
The little princess had just finished her dinner so I had to take a few liberties with Photoshop (the digital wash cloth) and remove some food around her mouth. 🙂
She is back to making strange with me. It has become a game that she will smile at me and act like she wants to come to me only to turn away and lunge back to her Mother. We did this for several minutes and then Angie just gave her to me. She was not pleased with this and right back to her Mother she went.
Good luck today Mark. Remember it is a journey not a destination.
That’s it for today. Hope you enjoy your midweek hump day. Thanks for stopping by and be careful.
