Happy Sunday! ~ 257
I finished my chores around the bird sanctuary and assembled the two additional chair we purchased sometime ago but have never introduced to the patio until yesterday. Angie, Ben and the Grand Kids were coming over for a cook out and I wanted to be able to accommodate them in comfort.
Then I thought I would make my bird feeder image of the day and get that out-of-the-way so I could enjoy our company. Problem was there were no birds at the feeders. They hardly bother flying off now when I refill the line as they know I’m harmless and I usually mean fresh food, so I couldn’t figure why there were no birds. One would occasionally land atop one of the feeders and do his rapid nervous looking around and then just as quick he would fly away.
There were plenty of birds in the trees so I was at a loss to understand. Then suddenly from the big tree in back (my view blocked by the basket ball backboard) of the feeders came a large Red-Tailed Hawk. He came past me at eye level and then swooped up and over the house.
As soon as he was gone about a hundred birds (well that’s what it seemed like) came back to the feeders and started eating, fighting, and drinking from the bird bath. Things at the sanctuary were back to normal. Well not so much because the dreaded Hawk returned to another tree just to the side of the feeding line and in the blink of an eye the birds were gone again.
I made several images of this magnificent bird. He is as big as a small eagle. He would only show me his butt and only occasionally look my way. Then just as quick he was gone again and he did not return the rest of the evening.
Had a great time playing with the Grand Kids and never got a camera out. That doesn’t happen very often but I just wanted to enjoy them last night.
That’s it for today. Hope you enjoy your Sunday. Thanks as always for visiting my blog and be careful.
