Happy Thursday ~ 239
I have birds for you today. There are at least two reasons for the bird images. One, I love to watch them and capture their movements with my camera and they are about all I have been shooting for the last few days. So I look for things that stand out to me and those are what I share with you today.
No exotic birds nor even “pretty birds,” just common everyday birds captured in unique poses (or at least I think they are.)
Another full day of teaching today. I believe so profoundly in what I’m teaching it is frustrating to me when I see others not embracing the subject and realizing how important it really is to their career and for that matter their life. I have to take much of the responsibility because even though I have a passion for the subject I am not a charismatic, dynamic speaker and that is a huge part of making the material palatable.
I was at a seminar last year at the SHRM conference in Des Moines. I don’t even remember this morning what the topic was but it was something I wasn’t really interested in but it was the only session that wasn’t booked full of attendees.
I watched the speaker interact with the person who was going to introduce him and he was so detailed in his conversation with the other person about how to introduce him (I was sitting on the front row because it was the last seat available) that I thought to myself, I’m not going to enjoy his presentation.
Once he started talking he was so animated, funny, and inclusive that I found myself engaged with his every word. <sigh> Sucks when you have very little talent.
