Happy Monday ~ 242
I’m sorry for the lack of activity on the blog of late. I’ve struggled with a bug and haven’t been feeling well. Hopefully that is behind me and so I’m back at it today.
A couple of weeks ago Jeanne and I went down to the river (whenever I say that I always think of that stupid electric fish on a board that sings “Take me to the river, throw me in the water.”) to see how high the river was and to look at all the fish flies. Just as we arrived this guy came by at an amazing pace. He kept it up the entire time I could see him. He must be in great shape.
By the way if you are familiar with the rubber fish that sings that you will now have that song in your head all day. 🙂
Later we drove up the lock and dam 11 and found some pelicans fishing around the lock. This pair was swimming along with their bills just above the water and sometimes just skimming the top of the water.
I was just shooting on burst mode and was not expecting him stabbing at the water like that. Generally when I’ve watched pelicans fish they do it in small groups and try to herd the fish into a pocket and then grab their fill.
Unfortunately this guy came up empty-handed. I watched and photographed them for several hundred feet and each of them would stab at the water like this but each time they came up empty-handed. While the pelicans fishing at the lock seemed to be having their share of luck.
I’ll leave you with this image of a Robin just after his bath. I couldn’t get set up quick enough to catch his antics in the bath as he bounded around and got his entire body covered in water. But I like this image showing his indignation at me for taking his picture right after his bath. 🙂
That’s it for today. Hope to get back on schedule now. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Enjoy your day and be careful.
